Mostly Kurdish populated town Kobanê on the Turkish-Syrian border- the center of clashes between US-led coalition and Kurdish fighters against Islamic State militants.

While Kurds are fighting on the ground and US along with allied forces strike from the air, around 400,000 civilians from Kobanê flee leaving their houses and cross the Turkish border to find shelter on the volunteer-run refugee camps or mosques in the town of Suruç. Some of the refugees are hosted in various villages near the border on the Turkish side. There are cases of one family house accommodating five families.

Daily, Kurds either from Syria or from Turkey, gather on top of various hills near the border. They watch the bombings and battles in Kobanê and claim they are ready to accompany the Turkish army in case of military involvement against the IS militants.
